Ingredients (Serves 4)

  • 1 medium green cabbage

  • 1 lb (450 g) ground beef (80/20 for juiciness)

  • 1 tsp garlic powder

  • 1 tsp onion powder

  • ½ tsp smoked paprika

  • ½ tsp black pepper

  • ¾ tsp salt (or to taste)

  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce (optional, low-carb)

  • 1 tbsp olive oil

  • 1½ cups shredded cheddar or mozzarella cheese

  • Optional toppings: bacon bits, sugar-free ketchup, mustard, pickles


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  2. Prepare cabbage: Remove outer leaves. Slice cabbage into ¾-inch thick rounds. Brush both sides lightly with olive oil.

  3. Season cabbage: Place cabbage rounds on baking sheet, sprinkle lightly with salt and pepper. Bake for 10 minutes, flip, and bake another 10 minutes until slightly tender.

  4. Make burger mixture: In a bowl, combine ground beef, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, pepper, and Worcestershire sauce.

  5. Assemble: Remove cabbage from oven. Add a thick beef patty on top of each cabbage round.

  6. Bake again: Return to oven and bake for 18–22 minutes, until beef is cooked through.

  7. Add cheese: Sprinkle cheese on top and bake an additional 3–5 minutes until melted.

  8. Optional broil: Broil for 1–2 minutes for a golden cheesy top.
